Description
The Northern Mockingbird (Mimus polyglottos) is the only mockingbird commonly found in North America. A drab bird, clad in shades of gray with conspicuous white wing patches, it has a pleasant song and can mimic. The male and females look alike while a juvenile has a spotted breast.
The mockingbird is a very popular bird. It the official state bird of Arkansas, Florida, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Texas. It is one of the few birds that can be found in every habitat, from desert to forest to city.
I was on the Florida Panhandle when I photographed this Mockingbird.
