Description
A close-up study of the basket-hilted broad swords on display in the Governor’s Palace entry hall at Colonial Williamsburg in Williamsburg, Virginia.
There are 540 weapons in the house, all displayed in interesting ways designed to impress visitors of the Palace during the American colonial period. While these are reproductions, the originals were the property of the Virginia militia and would have been taken down from the wall and used in times of conflict.
I found the repetition and basketweave pattern created with these weapons fascinating!
