A black bear yearling was enjoying his breakfast of blackberries in the meadow when a Cades Cove visitors rudely honked his horn. The little bear stood up on his hind legs and looked around to see what all the fuss was about, never dreaming it was him.
Approximately 85% of a black bear’s diet is vegetation, with berries making up a huge portion of their summer diet. They can eat up to 30,000 berries a day!
