Description
Crooks Covered Bridge in Parke County, Indiana, shown in profile spanning Little Raccoon Creek.
Crooks Covered Bridge is one of the oldest covered bridges in Parke County, Indiana. It spans 132 feet across Little Raccoon Creek. Constructed around 1856, this single-span Burr Arch Truss bridge is one of only two Henry Wolfe bridges remaining in the county.
While the bridge is still open to vehicular traffic, a bypass road has been added for farm equipment and vehicles over the load limit.
Parke County, with 31 covered bridges, is known as the “Covered Bridge Capitol of America.” This is because more covered bridges are here than in any other county in the USA.
