Description
The Eaglet's dad spent at least an hour preening. He would stop occassionally and look over at the nest and then start all over again. I'm not sure how many times he repeated the sequence but at the completion of a sequence he would shake his tail feathers.
It was hard to see what the eaglets were doing, since they were at the back of the nest in the leaves but the few times I caught a glimpse, it looked like they were attempting to mimmick him.
Mom sat in her usual spot and would look back and forth first watching dad and then checking the eaglets to see how they were doing.
In all our trips out, I'd never seen dad move or groom so much, but the shaking of the tail feathers caught my attention enought times that I finally started photographing dad. It finally became obvious to me that he was teaching them a lesson called, "The Care and Grooming of Young Eaglets".
