Artist's Description

The Holei Sea Arch at sunset.

Created by the volcano as molten lava entered the Pacific Ocean and then waves eroded the weaker rock. This natural beauty is about 80 to 90 feet high.

Holei Sea Arch is located at the very end of Chain of Craters Road in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island of Hawaii.

On June 4, 2018 it was announced that the last 6.9 earthquake cracked the arch back where it attaches to land. It is still standing but it may soon become another causality of the current volcano eruption. As of 2020, the sea arch is still standing but is very unstable. The trail and overlook is closed.

My husband became a medical traveler, and I decided to put my career on hold to tag along. In the process, I found my roots again. What...
