Description
One of the beautiful footbridges at the Japanese Garden in Hilo.
The 34 acre Japanese Garden in Hilo's Lili'uokalani Gardens is named for the Hawaiian monarch Queen Lili'uokalani. This ornamental Japanese park created in the early 1900’s was built to honor the Japanese immigrants of Hilo. It is the largest Edo style gardens outside of Japan. Planned with the serene Waihonu Pond as its center feature, it has charming footbridges and gazebos, weeping willow trees, flowering azalea bushes, a bamboo glade and a Japanese tea house.
