Description
A beautiful leucistic Sandhill Crane in flight with its flock.
While more common than a Whooping Crane, a leucistic Sandhill Crane is still a very rare find.
Leucism is a condition where the pigmentation cells in an animal or bird fail to develop properly. This can result in unusual white patches appearing on the animal or completely white creatures like the one in the center of this image. This Crane is not an albino since its eyes are still the normal orange. An Albino Sandhill Crane would have pink or red eyes.
