Description
Richmond Main Street Station’s official name is the Main Street Station and Trainshed. This historic railroad station and office building in Richmond, Virginia, built in 1901 in the Second Renaissance Revival style. With the uppermost section of the building right next to the Interstate 95 James River Bridge, it is known by locals as The Clock Tower.
In 1970, Main Street Station and its trainshed, which is one of the last surviving trainsheds of its type in the nation, were added to the National Register of Historic Places. In 1976, it was designated a National Historic Landmark.
