Artist's Description

In this sunset view, the Natchez Vidalia Bridge dominates the view of the Mississippi River from the Natchez Under-the-Hill riverfront.

These two twin cantilever bridges span the Mississippi River between Vidalia, Louisiana, and Natchez, Mississippi, and are the tallest bridges in the state. The original bridge completed in October 1940 and has two 8-foot lanes. It lacks shoulders and now carries all westbound traffic. The newer, eastbound bridge completed in 1988, has 11-foot lanes with inside and outside shoulders. Eastbound traffic is heavier, as that crossing goes into Natchez.
