Description
General Motors purchased Samson Tractor Company in 1917 because of their new Samson Model M tractor. They hoped to emulate the success that Ford was having with the Fordson Model F tractor.
At $650, it was a good and reasonably priced tractor. They were able to produce ten tractors a day, but they discovered the price was unprofitable. GM raised the tractor's price to $840 and ended all plans of outselling the Fordson. They closed the Samson division in 1923.
The Samson Model M tractor was build from 1918 to 1922.
