Description
Sandstone Falls is the largest waterfall on the New River. The Falls is not a tall waterfall, it only drops 10 to 15 feet, but it is 1500 feet wide and divided by a series of islands. It is at the Sandstone Falls that the New River transitions from a large bottomlands river into a roaring narrow mountain river as it enters the boulder-strewn New River Gorge.
Sandstone Falls is part of the New River Gorge National River in West Virginia.
