Just a few fascinating alligator facts…
Temperature of egg incubation determines the gender of an alligator. If the temp is less than 86 °F, they will all be females; if greater than 93°F, only males will be produced; and temperature from 86°F - 93 °F produces a mixture of male and female. Baby alligators typically stay with their mother for 1 to 3 years. Age does not define sexual mature, length does. The American alligator is sexually mature at about six feet long.
