The Thurmond Railroad Bridge at the ghost town of Thurmond, West Virginia, offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the Appalachian Mountains and the New River as it winds its way through the New River Gorge. Once a hub for coal mining and railroads, this area has become a popular destination for white water rafting and kayaking enthusiasts. In fact, a raft can be seen floating down the river in the distance in this image.
