Artist's Description

Looking over Nebraska from atop the 400-foot tower on the Nebraska State Capitol is the Sower. The Sower stands 19 feet tall, he is barefooted with his shirt sleeves, and pant legs rolled up. He is working hard, casting the seeds of life into the winds.

Sowing is the traditional method of hand planting. The Sower represents the importance of agriculture to the people of Nebraska.

The Sower was created by New York sculptor, Lee Lawrie.
