A female Bald Eagle lands on her favorite perch next to her eaglet’s nest which is just out of the picture.
Shortly before I shot this image, mom flew in and fed her youngest eaglet. She withheld food from the oldest one since it is time for him to leave the nest. She took the remainder of the food back to the other side of the river where she preceded to eat the fish while making eye contact with the elder eaglet daring him to fly to her to eat. After he made a serious but unsuccessful attempt to fly, she flew back to her perch by the nest.
The older eaglet now does a hopping movement when he flaps his wings. It won't be long before that turns into a takeoff.
