Artist's Description

El Capitan at Guadalupe Mountains National Park.

Guadalupe Mountains National Park located in western Texas, just south of the New Mexico state line, and not far from Carlsbad, New Mexico. The Guadalupe Mountains are part of a rare, mostly buried 400-mile long fossilized reef that is considered one of the world's finest examples of an ancient reef system. This mountain range towers more than 3,000 feet above the arid Chihuahuan Desert that surrounds it. At 1000 feet high, the limestone cliff, El Capitan, is the park’s most striking feature and Guadalupe Peak, at 8,751 feet above sea level, is the highest point in Texas.

I'm a travel photographer that enjoys photographing United States architecture, nature, and transportation. As the 8th photographer in 4 generations of my family, I don't remember a time when photography was not part of my life. By the time I was five years old, I was standing on a stool in the darkroom, helping my dad develop pictures. It was my job to transfer the photos from the hypo to the water bath. I went to college for interior design. After I graduated, I had a long successful career as an art buyer and designer for a large home furnishings company. In 2006, I had a significant life change.
