The Loess Hill State Forest overlook view is said to be the best view of the interior of the Loess Hills. The narrow path across the hill's spine begins an easy 1.2 mile lightly trafficked loop trail.

Loess Hills State Forest is at the heart of Loess Hills. It is part of the Loess Hills National Scenic Byway near the western border of Iowa, a unique geological ridge formed by finely ground windblown soil know as loess. The area is known for its unusual terrain and scenic natural areas.
