Artist's Description
A close up image of a stereoscope holding a J.F. Jarvis stereograph of Washington DC found in the Dorr House at Historic Pensacola in Pensacola, Florida.

Stereographs or stereoview cards were two nearly identical photographs, typically of a famous place or event, printed side by side on cardboard. When these cards were viewed through the stereograph, the viewer saw a three-dimensional image.
