The Carnegie Science Center in the North Shore neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Industrial and steel magnate Andrew Carnegie, mostly known for the Carnegie Libraries throughout the United States, hailed from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. However, what he did nationally was even more extravagantly done for the people of Pittsburgh. Carnegie envisioned a "noble quartet: art, science, music, and literature" where the citizens of Pittsburgh, no matter age, income, or social status, could be exposed to culture.
By the time Carnegie died in 1919, he had given away almost all of his wealth. The museums and libraries are a testament to Carnegie's vision and generosity.
Part of the Carnegie Institute, located in Pittsburgh's Oakland neighborhood, the Museum of Natural History, Museum of Art, Library, and Music Hall opened in 1895. I'm a travel photographer that enjoys photographing United States architecture, nature, and transportation. As the 8th photographer in 4 generations of my family, I don't remember a time when photography was not part of my life. By the time I was five years old, I was standing on a stool in the darkroom, helping my dad develop pictures. It was my job to transfer the photos from the hypo to the water bath.
