Description
Early fall at the Susie Island's Overlook. The golds have popped out but there is still a lot of green. The heavy cloud cover reminds us that winter will not be far behind.
The Susie Islands AKA The Susies, is a group of thirteen islands just off the Minnesota coastline in Lake Superior. They can be seen on the North Shore Scenic Drive and are up fairly close to the Canadian border.
A couple of the islands have different names but they are all named for members of the Falconer family that lived there and mined copper ore from the islands in the early 1900s.
The highest point in the islands is 120 feet above lake level.
