Description
The John Coffee Memorial Bridge spans the Tennessee River in the northwest corner of Alabama. Across the river on the other side of the bridge is the location of Colbert’s Ferry, an important Natchez Trace historical location.
The bridge is named for General John Coffee, who fought in the Creek War of 1813-14 and was one of Andrew Jackson’s Generals at the Battle of New Orleans.
This view of the bridge and river is from the Lauderdale picnic area at the Natchez Trace Parkway milepost #328.7.
