Description
The Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA), operates the Museum of Contemporary Native Arts (MoCNA) in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The museum is housed in the historic Santa Fe Federal Building, AKA the old Post Office. This landmark Pueblo Revival building was built in 1925 and designed by R Whitson and F Cowderoidale Architects.
The beautifully painted columns on the façade of the building were painted by Native American artist Yatika Starr Fields of Cherokee/Creek/Osage heritage. Fields is known for his energetic and vividly colored abstract painting and murals inspired by the graffiti culture and movement found in the natural world.
