Description
No flower says Christmas like a beautiful poinsettia!
Native to Mexico, it is actually a perennial flowering shrub that can grow 10 to 15 feet tall. In Mexico it is referred to it as "La Flor de la Nochebuena" which translates to Flower of the Holy Night or Christmas Eve.
Its botanical name, Euphorbia pulcherrima, means "very beautiful" and was assigned by the German botanist, Wilenow, who found the plant growing through a crack in his greenhouse.
Today, there are more than 100 varieties of poinsettias available. Poinsettias come in colors like the traditional red, white, pink, burgundy, marbled and speckled.
This beautiful pink poinsettia has the name, Visions of Grandeur.
